On the Procedures Envisaged by the MHRD for Framing the “New Education Policy”: History, Procedural Outlines and other Details

Abstract

The Secretary of the University Grants Commission, Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu had sent a demi official letter to the Vice Chancellors informing them that the Government of India has embarked on an exercise to frame a comprehensive “New Education Policy” for the country. The letter lists out the 20 themes identified by the Ministry of Human Resource Development as major components of the exercise for higher education.  The Secretary of the UGC has also asked the Vice Chancellors to give top priority to the matter and to circulate the communication to all the departments and affiliated Colleges of the Universities and forward the feedback in the form of a consolidated report to the UGC by 24th of July 2015.
