Abstract

This study was conducted in order to assess the opportunities and challenges to implement inclusive education in selected primary schools in Chikkaballapur district. The study used descriptive survey as a research design to explain the present study. Regarding the participants of the study, 50 participants were involved, namely 10 professional teachers in special needs, and 40 students with different disabilities as sample participants. With regard to data gathering instruments, questionnaire, structured interview, and observation were used to collect data from the participants. The findings roughly show that even though there are some opportunities that support inclusive education, it cannot be implemented properly due to lack of awareness and commitment.
